Shadow

Wretched guilt afflicts my soul

each day a little more…

         The war that rages in my mind           

and pain I can’t ignore…

I don’t know how to make this right

afraid it’s much too late…

I can’t undo the damage done

and lift this heavy weight…

A flaw within my character

it manifests again…

    A shadow hidden deep within    

a dark and sultry friend…
