The Whisper Of The Wind

The leaves they dance…The leaves they fall
The whisper of the wind
One more season… One more year
The change it now begins

For many years…Your presence felt
The trees prepare to sleep
A heightened sense…within the air
Of something I must seek

The trees they bow…As you approach
Your power now displayed
I close my eyes…and drift away
My thoughts of her replayed

Then breaking through…the whistling wind
Another I do hear
A voice I knew…from long ago
Whose memories I hold dear

It’s me my love…I heard your thoughts
I sought and found a way
couldn't wait…a moment more
To be with you today

I rode the wind…to come to you
To see you one more time
To let you know…It’s all ok
That everything is fine

The wind it blows…I must now leave
But hear these words I say
Enjoy your life…do all you can
For each and every day

Don’t be afraid…We’ll meet again
Of this I surely know
I’ll wait for you…With open arms
You’ll never be alone

The leaves they dance…The leaves they fall
The whisper of the wind
One more season… One more year
The change it now begins

  3. Jon:

I am so pleased that you would include me in the group of friends to receive your beautiful poetry. It is truly as soft and gentle as the breeze of which you write.

    Thank you,

  4. Wow
This is so very beautiful, love how it flows, and the words,I think this is my favorite of all your poems. The one part made me sad " Times did change...I did move on...another love is mine." That line kind of breaks my heart, that line takes me to someone from my past. I really love this one

  5. love the flow and cadence .The imagery expressed by the title is moving,
almost haunting. As poetry should, yours sort of transports me to a deeper,
sweeter level of this harsh life.At 86 I need that. THANK YOU.

There is a lovely flow to this poem, the whisper of the wind, enchanting the leaves they dance, romantic.

  8. I must admit that when I started reading it, I didn't think I liked the way it was written. But as I read further and further into the poem, I got simply entranced by it. Beautifully written and the rhyming was perfect - it had a good beat and rhythm so that the rhyming worked itself wonderfully into the poem. I don't want to sound stupid or anything but is this about a lost love, or someone who had passed away? Either way, I really enjoyed reading it. You're a great writer. Congratulations and write on.

  9. I really enjoyed reading this. It is very relevant to me right now, and it makes me wish for a similar experience of my own. Reading your poem makes me feel like such an experience is actually possible. The flow and rhyming are perfect; I wouldn't change a thing.
