The Legend of Injun Joe

For years a legend often told
around the campsite fire
About an Indian Chief who lost his wife
his only heart's desire

His hopeless anger turned to rage
he swore to take revenge
No matter what it cost in life
her death he would avenge

Before he had a chance to strike
he accidentally drowned
His body never seen again
by anyone around

The legend says that Injun Joe
still walks around the lake
Seeking those who killed his wife
their life swears to take

His headless body has been seen
by those who got away
They never were the same again
they fear unto this day

Don't be along on darkened nights
around Lake Seminole
You just might see more than you want
he'll claim another soul
