Tonight I drove down to the coast
to soothe my troubled mind
The ocean always speaks to me
with wisdom so sublime
I found a place all by myself
and looked out to the sea
The memories of a thousand days
all gathered here for me
The ocean sounds they never fail
to take me far away
The breeze so gentle on my face
I love the ocean spray
The sand becomes my bed tonight
the waters cover me
The moon looks down from up above
my mind is trouble free

ReplyDeleteOk, I am right there with you- I mean this in more than one way- 1. Been there and totally agree, there is nothing like the ocean cradling you at night (4 years Navy, 2 years out to sea), and 2. Your words bring me there- feel like I can turn my head one way and see the moon, turn the other way and see your vanished anxiety. Great write for the senses!
