The Mask

It's funny how we play the game
we hide within ourselves
Afraid to show just who we are
projecting someone else

A world of sad pretenders
we move about each day
If one could see within our hearts
much sadness and dismay

Approval we forever seek
in someone else's eyes
If we could learn to love ourselves
the mask we'd set aside

No more we'd dance around the fire Or try and climb the steeples and the pyre WE would be satisfied to sit by the sea And bathe ourselves with joy and glee Love to you, vie

  11. Maria Wood Yes we're all guilty of putting on an act, playing a role to blend in with the mask makers and takers.

ahh yes..and it is reeally not an easy thing to do when society espeecially tells us we are SELFISH to do so? But if we do not take good care of ourselves and feed our joys we will have nothing to give to others. [Thanks so much for stopping by] Light & Love

If we could see ourselves the way God sees us, we would love ourselves more. I struggle with this so I have to constantly remind myself that's OK to love myself. Well-written, Jon! I enjoyed the read. Blessings, Rhonda
