The Change

A gentle breeze this afternoon

a heightened sense of change…

The leaves are curling on the trees

their forms now rearranged…

Autumn days have now arrived    

and soon the leaves will fall…

Another Summer just like this

I surely  don’t recall…

How did the days go by so fast?

they didn't hang around…

One moment all the leaves were  green

today they're red and brown

        Standing on a slippery slope          

the fear is almost gone…

Storms that raged inside my mind

are settled now,  and calm

Darkness settles over me
